What happens when a kubernetes master or kubernetes worker node fails? How does it affect the cluster?

Answer: That all depends on the configuration you have. If you have HA configured then nothing to worry about.

Create a new Kubernetes node and join it to the working cluster. Add the appropriate master labels and taints, either in the kubelet configuration, or by using kubectl.

and If Kubernetes is not running in HA mode and the only Kubernetes master node or worker node has failed, the cluster will be down.

Hi@SKumar,

I totally agree with your first point. But in the second point, you told if the worker node goes down the cluster will also go down. Can you please explain this point?

Whenever master node under kubernetes fails, the cluster still remains in an operational mode. It doesn’t affect pod creation or service member changes.

If worker node fails, master stops receiving updates from worker node.
