I wanted to know as what amount of knowledge in Python one should have to become a Data Scientist?

If you want to work on Data Science, Python is the best language to be used. You can easily learn the basics of Python required for Data Science in one month.

Basics of Python consists data types, conditional statements, loops, some packages like NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib etc.

First of all you need study data structures in Python like list,tuple, dictionary etc.

Then you can move to some python libraries for performing scientific computations or to manipulate data like numpy, pandas and matplotlib for visualisation.

Then the next step is to learn scikit learn a machine learning library and concepts like regression,etc.

After doing all that move to big data technologies…here you can build a model on a very large datasets..the model could be predictive model or other.
