emulator emulator error x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration

Question

I have been trying to run my Hello World application in the Android Studio but have been getting the following error for w while now:-

Emulator: ERROR: x86 emulation currently requires hardware acceleration!

Please ensure Intel HAXM is properly installed and usable.

CPU acceleration status: HAX kernel module is not installed!

Can you tell me how I can solve this error? Any lead would be helpful.

In order to ensure that this ERROR does not persist, start with opening the SDK Manager located in the Android Studio, following which go to Tools > Android > SDK Manager and download Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator with the help of the HAXM installer if not done already. You must next visit your SDK directory which will have the following line of code:-

C:\users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\extras\intel\Hardware_Accelerated_Execution_Manager\ and run the file named intelhaxm-android.exe.

Once this has finished, please restart your Android Studio and then try to start the AVD again which could take upto a minute or 2 to show the emulator window.

To answer your question, there are a few steps which you will have to follow such as opening the SDK Manager (In Android Studio, go to Tools > Android > SDK Manager) and Download Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator (HAXM installer) if not done already.

 

C:\users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Android\sdk\extras\intel\Hardware_Accelerated_Execution_Manager\ and run the file named intelhaxm-android.exe. Following which, you will have to restart your Android Studio and then try to start the AVD again. Showing the emulator window could take upto 3-5 minutes in the worst case.
