Cross object formula in salesforce

How to create a lookup formula for a custom object. How can I insert the field type that is related to my object?

I'm not sure what you're looking for. If you want to add a new lookup field to your object, go to the object, click "New" in custom fields, choose "Lookup Relationship" and click "Next," then select your linked object. Select "Formula" as the "Data Type" if you wish to create a new formula field.
