If you have created the cluster along with a role( using -r flag) , there might be some issue with the permissions assigned to the role. Ensure you have adequate permissions associated with that role. That Should resolve the issue.
Hope this helps!
What all permissions does your role have?

Unauthorized in AWS is always permission issue wrt to the role. Check that and you should be good to go.
Can you please share your yaml file?

Thank you
