Create a custom image of windows VM on Google Cloud

0 votes
I have a Windows VM instance where I have made a few custom configurations. I need to spin up multiple instances of the same configurations and for this purpose I intend to create a custom image of my VM instance. How should I go about to achieve this?

Before you create the image, run GCESysprep on the instance to prepare it for the image creation process.

This process stops the instance. If you cannot stop your instance, you can skip the GCESysprep process and create the image while risking the integrity of the image.

  • Log in to your Windows instance and open PowerShell or Command Prompt as an administrator.

  • Use GCESysprep to prepare your system for duplication. This command shuts down the instance and closes the remote desktop connection.

After you prepare your instance, create the image.

  1. Go to the Create a new image page in the GCP Console.

  2. Specify the image Name.

  3. Choose a Source disk with a Windows operating system from which you want to create an image.

  4. Specify the location to store the image. Choose an image location from the Based on source disk location (default) drop-down menu.

  5. Specify the properties for your image.

  6. Click Create.

Hope it helps!!
