What are the different modes to use a VI editor

I am new to linux, I am trying to figure out VI editor. Though it is easy to use but I am finding it difficult to figure out the modes of it. Help me with the different modes of using VI editor. Thank you in advance.

VI editor in linux can be use in three modes, they are as follows:

  1. Command mode – this is the mode can be treated as default, where you start in using the VI editor.
  2. Edit mode – this mode allows you to do text editing, i.e. edit your file's content.
  3. Ex mode – this mode is used to interact with vi and it contains instructions to process a file. basically execute file with different parameters.
