There's no need to delete the account, you can delete the default project.
Select the project from the drop-down menu.
Just go the IAM & Admin section in the left taskbar.
Click on the shut-down button.
Your work is done.
To "close" your billing account:
a. Go to the Cloud Platform Console https://console.cloud.google.com/
b. Hamburger menu: select Billing.
c. Select the billing account name. (Do this twice.)
d. Click "Close billing account."
e. Type "close" to confirm.
If by deleting you mean closing your project running on GCP, then
Go to your developer account select project from drop down then go top right corner click three dots icon and select project settings and then click on shut down.
You can shut down projects using the GCP Console or the projects.delete() method.
This method immediately marks a project to be deleted and sends a notification email to the project owner. A project that is marked for deletion is not usable. After approximately 30 days, the project will be fully deleted. To stop this process during the 30-day period you can stop the process of deletion.
