A common thought is MNC company name adds value to your resume irrespective of the work you did.
If it's a well reputed MNC, it would add to your value, apart from other perks like salary and other stuff. Afterall people tend to respect you considering your job profile;)

Hey Reshma, MNCs have big brand name and market value which allows them to keep stable in the market. Now people tend to work with MNCs for longer run as they get a lot of benefits which usually aren't provided by small companies. Some of the reasons why people stay in MNCs for years are:

  • Job Stability: MNCs have bigger clients and long running projects, which allows them to retain their employees for long period. Thus there's more job stability in MNCs than small companies having small and short duration projects.

  • Job Perks: MNCs provides a lot of perks to their employees along with good salary as per the market standards. While small companies tries to do cost cutting by giving very least to null employee benefits and lesser salaries.

  • Work-Life Balance: MNCs offer standard leaves and over-time compensations. Whereas for a small scale company, this may vary.

  • Career-growth: MNCs tend to have more number of employees , thus have usually bigger teams to work on a project. This allows employees to cross-skill and work on their career development.

This is true in all cases. A lot of people start in MNCs and after 10-15 years, start shifting to start-ups because these start-ups offer a higher salary and the hike is better. But it depends on the person. Some people stick to MNCs because there is no much pressure as compared to a startup and they are used to the MNC work culture and they don't want to get out of their comfort zone.

I personally prefer working in an MNC because I get exposed to various people from different backgrounds and different sectors. I have many opportunities here. I have been working here(MNC) for the past 7 years and I have a bond with this company and people working here. I can shift to different departments without losing the trust factor with the company. I have no plans of shifting the company. It is like a family for me here.
