Sharing an AMI with other accounts

0 votes
I created an AMI with a few Big Data software. And I want to share it with my colleague so that he doesn’t need to install the Big Data software and configure it again. How do I share the AMI across AWS Accounts?

AWS allows the AMI to be made public as well as to share it with other AWS accounts and mentioned in the AWS Documentation here. If you think your AMI is useful to others, then you should also be able to sell it in the AWS Marketplace.

Just go to permission tab in Ami and add account id. Make sure you don't encrypt, if you encrypt then it will be long process to make Ami out of it in other account

You can share it by specifying your friend's AWS account number. You can find it in one of the tabs after you click on your AMI.
