What are Apache pig running modes

I have just started learning Hadoop and pig. Can someone explain Apache pig running mode?

Hey,

You can run Apache pig runs in two modes:

• MapReduce Modes:- If you want to execute pig queries over the big data stored in HDFS. In this, the input data, as well as the output data, will be stored in HDFS. For executing pig in MapReduce mode, we simply have to use the command 'pig'.
• Local Modes:- If you want to use pig in local mode, i.e. present in one file system, in that case, you can use the command "pig-x local. In this, the input and output will be present as a single file in one file system itself.
