Placement Groups are logical groupings or clusters of instances in a particular AWS region.

Placement groups are mainly used for launching cluster compute instance types.

When a placement group is created the user specifies the following strategies:-

  1. Cluster
  2. Partition
  3. Spread

Hope it helps.
