Browser compatibility with selenium for testing forms

I want to test forms quickly and reliably but newer versions of firefox do not support the selenium-ide plugin. Would other selenium products such as selenium3 enable me to test forms in up to date versions of firefox (eg 57.01)?

To use the old Selenium IDE you need Firefox 54 or, better, use Firefox PORTABLE 54.0.1. To keep yourself secure, install Firefox 54 portable just for automated testing with the Selenium IDE.

Note: Install the portable version of Firefox in a separate directory from your main Firefox.
