Python Pandas Dataframe How to remove blankspaces on the left side of the string

Hi. I have a Pandas dataframe and the index has strings with blankspaces appended to the left. I want to remove these blankspaces, how can I do this?

idx = pd.Index()
idx.str.lstrip()
