Choosing a career between testing and development

I have just completed my graduation and have got offer from two different company. One is offering the role of Associate Software Tester and other Associate Software Developer. I am confused between these two. The salary offered by both of them is similar. Can someone suggest me on what to do?

According to me opportunity in development is more than that of testing. When you are in the field of development you can always move to the different sectors in development by learning about new tools and tech. In testing you will be limited to the domain of testing. Hence, according to me as a fresher you should opt for the development job.

It depends on your interest. If you are interested in programming and building applications then choose development. If you think you are interested in criticism then choose testing. If you have the same level of interest in both of these, then I suggest you choose development because testing is being automated and the opportunities might decrease. You can choose development and if you don't like it there, you can look for another job profile.

Let me tell you what is development and what is testing. Development is building software applications. You will have to write programs to build an application and might also have to design it. Software testing phase comes after development. After an application is developed, it is tested to check whether it is working as desired or not. And if anything is missing, the changes are made and then deployed. Depending on this, I suggest you choose development because there is a good scope for it.

Hi,

According to me both the options are open to you and both have there own future goals. Otherwise testing profile would not have captured such a vast place with the IT world .People should have knowledge regarding testing profile, without knowing the actual work regarding the profile no one should comment that which profile is good to go.

Its actually depends on your choice which profile you want to go for, just make sure you know what kind of work you like and want to go for . You  can make your future on both of the profiles .
