phpMyAdmin Error The mbstring extension is missing Please check your PHP configuration

0 votes
The phpMyAdmin is not running properly for me. The following error notice appears in my browser when I attempt to visit phpMyAdmin: "There is no mbstring extension. Please check the settings for PHP.".

I've already looked for potential answers online. That's why I changed a few things in the php.ini file. I removed the comment from the line ";extension=php mbstring.dll" and filled out extension dir with the entire path to the ext folder. It sadly still doesn't function.

Please assist me in locating the right answer.
