To be straight, in Japan and China till class 4 students are taught how to be a good human, well behaved and responsible for the deeds they do. Here in India as soon as the kid starts speaking parents have a plan on preparing the kid for IIT and NEET. I mean here education is just for mugging things up and spilling it on the papers and getting good marks. That is the sole reason why we are struggling with our education system and question like this pops on every other article.

I agree with this. Its one thing to go to a prestigious university, but whats the point if you lack in character? In a wold where all the information you'll ever need to solve a problem is readily available to you, why aren't we working on interpersonal skills?
This may seem silly, but why was Environmental Education remove from the ICSE syllabus? Is it not as important as History or Physics?
Why are children taught to secure their futures with a degree rather than find a way to secure their futures with their passions?
It bothers me sometimes that programs are flooded with students who have no interest in what they're doing.

Our education system is like a Rat race.

I've done my engineering and recently started working and I just realized whatever I've learnt is all outdated and not used anymore. I'm learning new technologies which i think should have been covered as a part of my syllabus. Also whatever we learnt in college was all theory, now finally when i'm out of college I'm starting to realize that theory knowledge is useless until you know how to apply it and we were never taught that.

India has always been a pioneer of the “Gururkul” system, in which the bondage shared by the student and the teacher is something unique and special and One of the best advantage of Indian education system is its inexpensiveness.

I think one of the main reasons that Indian Education system is lagging behind is due to lack of access to educational institutions to people living in rural/remote areas. Education is not just about providing primary schools... There are so many places in India where the schools(primary and especially higher educational institutions) are way too far from people's residence.. It becomes difficult for people travel miles for education especially when these places do not have proper roads and transport facilities.. The government should plan on building up as much as educational institutions near to such remote places and increase access...

I'm not sure about India exactly, but one rule that must be enforced globally in all countries is that Sports should be a major part of the curriculum where students get to spend more than 5 hrs a week. Lack of playgrounds in the school destroys the life and athleticism in a student...This is getting worse in both US & Canada, and this deterioration is the only common thing across the world...

Everyone has always complained about Indian education system but no one has ever attended all the classes, no one has ever paid attention in classes, no one has ever completed their assignment. I'm sure students are not going to learn anything this way. students always look for an easy way to score marks like cheating, getting notes online and studying from those notes instead of understanding the concepts from the textbooks, mugging up answers. when students haven't done their part of job they have no rights to complain and point at others.

Stop defending the system. When it's so hopelessly planned, how can anyone even attend the classes and get something good out of this?

Reservation has become one of the main issue not just for education but also for jobs and benefits.. And when there are reservations to get into good institutes for higher education, people with higher capabilities and intellect get less opportunities which is taken by people with lesser capabilities.. This to some extent also discourages people.. Just think, who could be a better doctor? A person with better intellect or a person with less intellect and capabilities?
I think reservations should be restricted at least for education...
answered Jul 4, 2018 by ana-thon

The bjp govt have added in their manifesto that they will increase the seats of all courses in universities and colleges thus solving the problem of reservation.

I think schools and colleges should have a mandatory course that teaches them how to survive outside world because we've always had teachers and friends to help and protect us but when you get out of college, is when real life starts. People may not be how they seem to be, whom to trust whom not to, how to deal with practical life issues, how to handle stress and failure etc. I think these are the things that often people do not take into consideration but these are main reasons for suicides in this country.

No body can teach you how to face life. Each and every one has to figure that on their own.. And the system is doing a favor on you by letting you figure out things on your own..

We at our education system have pros like we know how to treat our elders and teachers and the cons being that we are stagnent at a point. As every coin has two faces same is the scenario with our education system. We need changes at many places but lets be honest what doesnt need change. Change is the only thing permanent.

we must build persona of a child and not just make him part of the race.

The Indian education system is more marks oriented than knowledge. Students are forced to study for the sake of marks and not really because they want to learn something new. With more importance given to a few random numbers scribbled onto a sheet of paper, the true talent and skill possessed by an individual is always overshadowed.

The basics reason for underdeveloped education system in India is the by product of dirty politics.....and the only way to topple it is by raising  voice against it collectively, after all India is the biggest democratic country..yet can't use the democracy at all that's the dirty politics I was referring about...so use our current educational resources and collectively raise voice for our fundamental right of quality education,

We youth are the future of India Dr. Kalam did believe strongly so and all we do is sit and curse the education system rather that using our current resources to do something about it

The worst part about Indian education system is that anyone can give money and get in any college or get any degree. Can you imagine such people who have never studied anything or practiced anything becoming doctors? This system can even take lives.

We often see in news that teachers of certain schools have so less knowledge and teach wrong to students.. Graduation certificate is not enough to become a good teacher.. It is the knowledge that matters.. So the Education board should take care to hire quality teachers..

Most of the teachers in India concentrate on bright students and ignore average or below average students(my personal experience). Moreover compared to the Indian system, teachers are more motivating which creates a feeling of competition among students and motivates students to work.

The government should take up more initiatives to improve the condition of government teaching institutes be it in infrastructure or teaching staff or equipments. People usually prefer private institutions over government because of these reasons even if its more expensive.

Kids today have lot of Home-works to do which mostly includes re-writing or by-hearting. They do not get time for extra-curricular. The education system should take care to include more practical teaching than just by-hearting or writing things.

Everyone is talking about the education what about the career counselling. There should be proper career counselling for the students as to help them figure out as what is better for them and what actually they want themselves to be in the future.

to change we need to get corruption out of the education system atleast!

Our education system should work on private-public relation for educational organization operating under government.

We are just selecting the privileged students and we often forget the un-privileged ones.

Our education system should focus on the rural education.

There we do have students who if given direction could excel more then the privileged ones.

Right now education has become a business and people play around with student's education for money. I personally have faced this issue. My university is known for failing people just so that they apply for revaluation and earn money. when you give each paper for revaluation its costs 600 bucks which is pretty expensive and easy money for the university as they know if they fail students they  WILL apply for reval.

Before doing something good for the students change the money mentality of the teachers and parents.

The expenses should be taken care by the government and only minimum wages should be charged so that students from all kind of society can take the benefits of all the reputated institution. Until unless we get the variety of students come together till then we are not going to get the education system changed. Rich will get their children admitted in best schools and the poor will have to compromise with the government schools even though they have more skills than the students born with silver spoon.

To be specific

1. The under privileged students

2. Syllabus

3. Teachers

4. Government and Private body intervention

5. Broadness in practical approach

If these things are taken care of then we can have a glimpse of better education

In my college, they made all the students take up these new technology certified courses and those courses have helped me more than any other subjects i've learnt in my college.

1. Change/Update the outdated syllabus.

2. Improve the examination system.

3. Improve the quality of teachers.

4. Make examinations a part of knowledge and not just memory.
