The job role of a Cloud Security Engineer are as follows:

Interact with the corporate security governance team to ensure that all applications are in compliance with corporate security directives, secure necessary operational security clearances. 

Evaluate security vulnerabilities in internal applications, and devise methods to harden internal applications.

Provide guidance on secure software development to the development team, review code and development methodologies for security weaknesses.

The roles and responsibility that I found were as follows:-

  1. Play around and explore APIs provided by CSP (Cloud service providers) (AWS, Azure, GCP etc.) in the form of (REST, Java, PowerShell).
  2. Craft/Implement the content/policy/signature based on the research and mitigate the misconfigurations identified as a part of security best practices defined by customer/vendor/standard guidelines, thereby ensuring fully compliant cloud service.
  3. Deep dive research in Cloud platforms and related services to identify the security best practice and propose and make it as a part of regulatory guidelines such as CIS adhering to Palo Alto Networks policies.
  4. Keep up-to-date with cloud vendors updates on the services, enhancements, security notifications and leverage the same into policy/signature development.
  5. Be the SME to help internal teams on signature clarity and customer facing issues.
