Upgrading the kubernetes cluster to the latest version

I want to upgrade my kubernetes cluster on GKE to the latest version. How should I go about doing it, with the least possible downtime?

In the earlier version of kubernetes this was however not possible, but the new releases lets you upgrade to the latest version. Follow the guide in the official docs here.
