Git and Mercurial, both are used for the same purpose But why is Git preferred over Mercurial?

I'm going to put down pros and cons of git and then you can decide for yourself

Pros:

Distributed version control system

Efficient branching and merging

Fast

Open source

Better than svn

Great command-line application

Simple

Free

Easy to use

Does not require server

Cons:

Hard to learn

Inconsistent command line interface

Addons have limitations

Overlay complicated

Git is slower on windows when compared to mercurial
