Hey, I have recently started learning DevOps and also I don't have much knowledge about GCP. I wanted to launch an Ubuntu instance but I don't know how to configure this. Can somebody help me?

If you're new to GCP, be careful with the instances. One wrong move and you'll be slapped with an unpayable credit card bill. ATB though!

Hey @Ali, This is pretty simple, just follow these steps:

  1. Go to cloud.google.com and log in with your account
  2. On your homepage, under COMPUTE, go to Compute Engine - > Images
  3. Select any version of an Ubuntu instance. Here I have selected ubuntu-1404-trusty-v20180818
  4. Click on CREATE INSTANCE
  5. Change configuration settings - add the name of the instance, the region as us-east1, Zone as us-east1-b, change machine type according to your requirement, under identity and API access, add service account - compute engine default service account, access scopes as Allow default access. Set firewall as allow HTTP and HTTPS access
  6. Click on the SSH terminal to launch the instance.
