It's actually pretty easy to become a Computer Hardware Engineer.

  • Get a bachelors degree in either computer science or electronics
  • If you get a degree in computer science, then learn a little more of electronics and the hardware aspects of the systems.
  • If you get a degree in Electronics then you need to learn a little bit of programming. 
  • A good background in math and science will make things easier for you.
  • Gain experience, do some internships and gain practical knowledge.

Hey @Ali, Vishnu's answer seems good enough but he's missed out on a very important point. 

Pursue your masters in related filed, it will give a major boost to your career, job role and of course salary.
