Which latest Hadoop version is stable

I am running Ubuntu 14.04LTS in my system. I want to download Hadoop for my project work. Kindly suggest me which one is the latest hadoop version and which vwesion is widely used in production.

Try Checking this website: http://hadoop.apache.org/releases.html. Here you will find the latest hadoop release.

Hadoop 2.7.2 is the latest stable iteration and is ready for production use. If you still happen to have 2.6.x and planning to move to 2.7.x, you need to pay attention that Hadoop 2.7.x officially dropped the support for Java 6. You need Java 7+ to get Hadoop 2.7.x working.
