Is it possible to pass custom environment variable on Amazon Elastic Beanstalk

The Amazon EBS blurb has following points to say:

Elastic Beanstalk lets you "open the hood" and retain full control ... even pass environment variables through the Elastic Beanstalk console.

Can I pass other environment variables besides the one in the Elastic Beanstalk configuration?

Yes this is possible. However I would like to start with this point that if anyone uses .ebextensions/*.config . You can add or edit and in fact even remove environment variables in the Elastic Beanstalk web interface. Look for the variable under:

Configuration -- Software Configuration
