How to install Hadoop in Ubuntu

I am new to Hadoop and I want to install Hadoop in Ubuntu. My system configuration is 500GB Hard disk,8GB Ram and 2.5 gHZ processor, can I install Hadoop having this configuration and how? Please somebody help.

Follow the steps as mentioned in the below link. It worked for me.

In this tutorial, you will see how to install Hadoop in stand-alone mode and run one of the example of MapReduce programs it includes to verify the installation.
