Database Administrator has to take care of the availability of the Database. Security, Authentication should be the main priority. They should identify the weakness of the Database and solve these issues. Should take care of Backup and Recovery process. Along with Security and Authentication as mentioned by @Sneha, troubleshooting is another important responsibility of a Database Administrator. Recovery is done when the whole system crashes but some times it might happen that only some part/feature of the Database is not working as expected. In such cases, troubleshooting is the quick fix.
