Azure Vnet Private IP Ranges

0 votes

I don't have experience in networking. I'm a data/AI engineer and architect of data platform solutions. I've chosen to bite the bullet and master IP fundamentals so I can create clusters because distributed data processing and scaling out using containers have entered my world.

I've been taking a lot of training, but I still have a question about networking that is both straightforward and, in all honesty, kind of stupid.

Does it matter if a subnet on one Azure VNet overlaps a subnet on another if, for instance, I have two Azure VNets in my subscription on the same domain? That would presumably only cause an issue if they were peering at each other. The private IP ranges of the vnet are they ring-fenced?
