Hi Guys,

I have created a customer master key (CMK) in AWS KMS. I want to enable a customer master key (CMK). How can I do that with the command line?

Hi@akhtar,

You can set the key state of a customer master key (CMK) to enabled. This allows you to use the CMK for a cryptographic operation. You cannot perform this operation on a CMK in a different AWS account. The following enable-key example enables a customer-managed customer master key (CMK).

$ aws kms enable-key --key-id ID
