Try this:

docker container logs <container-id>

I think it will give container logs not apps logs!
It will give if u take tomcat container we can check the log of tomcat.
If you use any image or your app that allows bash, you can exec into bash and see the logs.. for eg. docker container logs can display the logs of ubuntu container.
