How to change the owner of any folder in Linux system?

Hi Guys,

I have created one folder using my root account. Now I want to change the ownership of this folder. How can I do that?

Hi@akhtar,

Linux system has one command named chown. This command has the capability to change the owner of a folder. But this command can run only by the root user.

$ ls -ld /permission/
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 6 Aug 13 19:58 /permission/
$ chown nadim /permission/
$ ls -ld /permission/
drwxr-xr-x. 2 nadim root 6 Aug 13 19:58 /permission/
