How to change permissions of folder and files in folder?

I have a folder in Ubuntu and have many folders and file in it. And those folders again have folders and file. I want to change the permissions of all these folders and files. How to do it?

The chmod command is used to set/change the permissions of a file/directory. There is an option to recursively change the permissions. The syntax is as follows:

chmod -R <permission> <directory_name>
