How to find cumulative total of rows in r

Question

How to find a cumulative total in r? I have loan amount paid throughout the year. I want to check the amount paid and left.

Each year has 3 installments to be paid until the loan amount is cleared.

Calculate intermediate sum and total sum using accumulate and reduce functions. You can find the examples in r documentation.

accumulate(x,function)   #return intermediate results. use the intermediate sum at each step to find the left amount.

reduce(x,function)     #return final result only.
