Skills required to become a product manager

Hello,

I wish to become a product manager in the next two years. Can somebody help me out with the skills I will need as a product mnaager. Would like to start working on those skills as soon as possible.

Being a product manager need more skills that knowledge. You can always gain knowledge but can skill are to be developed which comes with experience and exposure. A few skills that make a product manager successful would be the following:

1. Need to be an observer: You need to learn and grasp as many possible situations as possible. The first step is to observe and key strengths in your team which will open many opportunities for the product to grow.
2. Prophet: The product managers should be able to see where the product stands and where it's headed. They need to have a solid future plan. 
3. Strategies: The company has a milestone to achieve for which the product manager plans a strategy to achieve it. Get the best out of the product to boost the business.
4. Accountant: The product manager should be able to take account for the strategy and the product plan in case of success and failure. 
5.  Aligner: Product managers are responsible for two main tasks - building a long term strategy for the product and making sure the entire team is in the sync with this plan and with the implementation of the plan.
6. Driver: The product manager dreams and gets those dreams into action. He needs to be a driver
7. Fixer: There are a million possibilities where the plan can go wrong. He needs to stand up ins such situations and fix it.

• Inside-out knowledge of relevant products and internet trends

• A good eye for visual design or UI

• Should have technical expertise in the relevant domain.

• Clear, brief and concise writing skills
