Which is better normal desktop window or MDI like excel and chronos

I'm building a large application (an ERP system), and I'm not sure whether to use a standard desktop screen with a ribbon above the windows (DesktopToolbarWindow), which makes it appear as though every window opening in Windows has a task bar icon. Or using MDI like http://chronoswpf.codeplex.com/

can you help me with some pros and cons of MDI?

How people interact with your system entirely depends on your goals. Multiple "papers" are usually a sign that MDI is necessary. Multiple document interface is what MDI stands for. If there are only one or two papers, SDI is typically recommended (Single document interface).

However, we couldn't guess without much more specific specifications. The only person who is aware of what your application will do is you.
