Application Error Is a directory file android asset www index html

I'm using PhoneGap to create an Android app, however, when I test it on my phone, I receive the following error: Application Error Is a Directory (file:/#android asset/www/index.html). I only have this problem when my phone doesn't have an internet connection.

Can you offer any recommendations?
