Change count based on Filter in Tableau

0 votes

When I click filters on my tableau dashboard, is there a method to adjust the count?

This refers to the total amount spent by consumers! I have a large number of clients, and I have COUNTD formulae that function effectively and are based on certain criteria.

However, as part of the improvement, we must include the following:

As we adjust the filter based on the amount spent, the overall number of clients should adjust as well.

Say:

We have the months of January to December (as clients' names), as well as the kind of spending and overall spending.

Customer Name TYPE Total Spent January INSURANCE 1,000 February INSURANCE 100 March RENT 150 April RENT 300 May INSURANCE 450 June CAR LOAN 359 July CAR LOAN 1278 August CAR LOAN 580 September RENT 456 October INSURANCE 1,200 November INSURANCE 100 December INSURANCE 100

I have created a filter based on the range of spent ( 100 - 1500)

Now, If the filter is set to ALL, then the total count of customers is 12.

If I change the filter to:

  1. 100 - 500, the total count should be 8 ,

  2. 500 - 1000 is 2, and

  3. 1000 - 1500 count is 2.

I tried using the FIXED function and cant seem to make it work. Can someone please help me with this?

Thank you in advance.

If you use a FIXED, the numbers are calculated BEFORE the filters are applied, thus the figures aren't tampered with. To fix this, go to Context and add your filters. The filter is calculated before the FIXED in Context.
