Error Could not create the Java Virtual Machine in Hadoop

Hi Team,

I have configured Hadoop Cluster on the local system. I want to list down all the files available in HDFS. But it is showing me the below error.

$ hdfs -ls
Unrecognized option: -ls
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Hi@akhtar,

You can list down all the files with the Hadoop file system command. But you are using the wrong keywords in your command. Modify your command as shown below.

$ hadoop fs -ls /
