How can I produce compressed data from map reduce implementation?

 It is straight forward and you can achieve the same by setting the following parameters. (Using LZO here)

mapred.output.compress=true

mapred.output.compression.codec= com.hadoop.compression.lzo.LzopCodec

You get your output compressed in LZO.
