Can anyone tell me what is the use of zookeeper in Hbase?

Hey,

The zookeeper is used to maintain the configuration information and communication between region server and clients. It also provides distribution synchronization. 

It exposes common services like naming, configuration management, and group services, in a simple interface so you don't have to write them from scratch.
