What is metastore in Hive architecture

Hi,

I have started learning Hive and there was a pictorial form of explanation in the blog I am following. Can anyone explain what happens in metastore or what metastore does in Hive architecture?

Hey,

Hive chooses respective database servers to store the schema or Metadata of tables, databases, columns in a table, their data types, and HDFS mapping. It provides client access to this information by using metastore service API.
