A Security Director is a top-level role. To become a Security Director, a person would have already gained all the skills through the previous roles. But, just for this job, what are the skills required?

A Security Director would have gained the skills from the experience of lower level jobs. But you have asked for skills just for this role. These are the basic skills:

  • Knowledge of Security concepts related to DNS, routing, authentication, VPN, proxy services and DDOS mitigation technologies
  • ISO 27001/27002, ITIL and COBIT frameworks
  • PCI, HIPAA, NIST, GLBA and SOX compliance assessments
  • Operating Systems such as Windows, UNIX, and Linux
  •  Programming languages C, C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP etc.
  • Firewall and intrusion detection/prevention protocols
  • Ethical hacking and penetration testing
  • TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching protocols and hands-on experience
