How to install Ansible in Linux system

Hi Guys,

I want to learn Ansible declarative language. I have a Linux system. Can anyone tell me how can I install Ansible in the Linux system?

Hi@akhtar,

To install Ansible in your Linux system, you can use the pip3 command as shown below.

[root@localhost ~]# pip3 install ansible
WARNING: Running pip install with root privileges is generally not a good idea. Try `pip3 install --user` instead.

Requirement already satisfied: pycparser in /usr/lib/python3.6/site-packages (from cffi!=1.11.3,>=1.7->cryptography->ansible)
Installing collected packages: MarkupSafe, jinja2, ansible
  Running setup.py install for ansible ... done
Successfully installed MarkupSafe-1.1.1 ansible-2.9.11 jinja2-2.11.2

After successful installation, you can check using ansible --version command. It will show you the below output.

[root@localhost ~]# ansible --version
ansible 2.9.11
  config file = None
  configured module search path = ['/root/.ansible/plugins/modules', '/usr/share/ansible/plugins/modules']
  ansible python module location = /usr/local/lib/python3.6/site-packages/ansible
  executable location = /usr/local/bin/ansible
  python version = 3.6.8 (default, Jan 11 2019, 02:17:16) [GCC 8.2.1 20180905 (Red Hat 8.2.1-3)]
