Filter via cell with multiple values

Hi, I want to filter data from table that contains student marks details which has student name,id, subject code, marks. Students can select subjects from different courses, so a computer science student can take Electronics subject too. Student id(1AB13CS042) and subject (10CS62) code contains the department as "EC"/"CS"/"IT".  I want to filter students from department wise and subject code wise. can someone help me?

Hi, you can use string pattern matching or sub string method to form groups and apply filter on them. I used  "find function" to find the sub string to find the department and subject of student.

Below is a snap of calculative field to group students by Department.

Below is a snap of calculative field to group students by Subject codes.

Drag an drop both groups in the filter shelf to apply filters.

Sample visualization after applying filters.

Hope this helps you.
