MySql connection localhost vs 127.0.0.1

Hi. I just wanted to know what is the difference when I connect mysql to localhost and when I connect it to 127.0.0.1?

The difference is that when you use localhost, the socket connector is used. Whereas, when you use 127.0.0.1, TCP/IP connector is used.
