  • Provide Defense to systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction
  • Perform vulnerability and networking scanning and analyze how can the network be made more secure
  • Monitor network traffic for unusual activity
  • Configure and support security tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software, patch management systems, etc. and check for other ways to make the network secure
  • Implement network security policies, application security, access control to prevent unauthorized access
  • Analyze and establish security requirements for your networks and make changes to existing security if required

Hey Kapoor, a Security Administrator has following responsibilities on a day-to-day basis:

  • Configure security systems such as firewalls, antivirus, and IDS/IPS software

  • Create network policies and authorization roles for file access

  • Identify threats and work to create steps to defend against them

  • Define disaster recovery plans

  • Consult with staff, managers and executives on the best security practices

  • Perform vulnerability and penetration tests across all network segments

  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious behavior

  • Analyze current security requirements and make suggestions for improvements
