Can Docker for Windows using Linux containers operate on a VMware vSphere Windows 10 VM?

I have Windows 10 VM on VMware vSphere, I’m trying to run Docker for Windows with Linux containers on it. Hyper-V is enabled and Docker for Windows starts up fine when I use Windows containers. But when I try to switch to Linux containers I get the following error message:

Unable to start: Der ausgeführte Befehl wurde beendet, da die Einstellungsvariable "ErrorActionPreference" oder ein allgemeiner Parameter auf "Stop" festgelegt ist: Fehler beim Starten von "MobyLinuxVM".

Why am I getting this error? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In order to run linux containers, Docker for Windows uses a Hyper-V virtual machine called MobyLinuxVM.

In your Windows 10 VM, see if there is Hyper-V Manager. If you have this, then try to create a new virtual machine, with some standard Linux and see if you can run it.
