Alternative to Tableau Public

Question

I need to analyse multivariate data. Tableau Public and Mondrian are the two apps I've found so far that offer fantastic features. You may link plots together and filter and show data in a variety of ways. That's fantastic, but neither has a decent save option. You can save it online in Tableau Public, but that's not what I want.

Is there a version of Tableau Public that works offline and has a "Save to File" option?

Tableau Desktop offers a 14-day trial period during which you can study the software. Unlike Public, you can save as much as you like. If this is a one-time project, that may be plenty.

Since it's public, I'm guessing you don't want to save it to Public

But if that's not a concern, you could save to Public, then download your viz from the internet and see it using Public and/or Tableau Reader.
