EBS is virtual storage area network (SAN) which means it is RAID storage and is redundant free and fault tolerant. If the disk is corrupt, the then data is not lost as it has been virtualized. It can be managed on own and no need to call storage experts for services. The data can be recovered and reinstalled as & when necessary.
