How is Blockchain used for provenance purposes

I am confused about how Blockchain can be used to track a product from its birth until its death.??

I want to  know the history get into the blockchain? Can a data be stored on blockchain be manipulated??

what if an incorrect manufacturing date is given for a product and that information gets recorded...

The same goes with every step, where the scanning process is delayed and wrong information is stored at every step.

In such case, how can we say that block provides provenance??

Let me tell you how Blockchain could help.

Blockchain could ensure inspection and approval of certificates through consensus. And, if a problem did come up, blockchain could ensure that the provenance of the materials used by the auto, aircraft and train manufacturers is known.

Blockchain could also provide a “birth to death” view of the material in the supply chain, which would make that task of finding where those substandard products are much easier.

So, whether it’s tracing manufacturing or any other records blockchain can help.
