parse int value from a char

Is there a better solution to parse an integer from a character in a string 

String element = "el7";
String s;
s = ""+element.charAt(2);
int x = Integer.parseInt(s);

//result: x = 7

Check Character.getNumericValue(char).

String element = "el7";
int x = Character.getNumericValue(element.charAt(2));
System.out.println("x=" + x);

Output : 

x=7
